Term Reflection Print E-mail

We have come to an end of a busy but rewarding term. Reports and student portfolios have just gone out to parents and hopefully this has been a time of reflection and celebration for our families. The new national standards reporting format was used for this report and I am interested to get some feedback on what the thoughts of the community are in relation to this report form. There was also a brochure sent out to accompany the report which gives examples of how you can help at home across the various school teams. I hope you found it useful.

I was down at kids sport with my “parent hat” on at the weekend when I overheard a group of parents complaining about another school. I turned to the group and asked if they had brought these issues up with the school to which they replied they hadn’t. I can only hope that in our community if you are unhappy about anything that goes on in our school you come and talk to us about it. Chinese whispers can be very damaging and as I know the school they were discussing reasonably well, I was quick to remind them of the good things going on there too. None of us are perfect but by working together we can achieve a lot.

Our new Board of Trustee members are

Nicki Greaves - Chairperson

Chris Malone - Finance

Mike Jacques - Property

Janelle Ramsay - Personnel

Chris Baucke - Legislation

Bernadette Elvy - Staff Representative and Health & Safety

Nick Reed - Principal

Congratulations to our elected parent representatives. They offer lots of experience and expertise and I’m sure will represent our school community very well over the next three years.

I would like to thank the Board, the PTA and our wider community for the excellent support they have shown the school this term. We have been able to offer our children lots of opportunities by working together and making it happen.

I would also like to thank the staff for their efforts work too. It has been particularly challenging with the administration upgrade going on for a large part of the term. We are very lucky to not only have great teachers, but excellent teacher aides, office staff and cleaners. In schools support staff can get overlooked, but I would like to publicly acknowledged the great work the do for our kids and staff.

Have a prosperous couple of weeks with you children, be safe and we look forward to seeing you all after the holidays.
