Our main approach at Ashhurst School is to deescalate behavioural issues as quickly as possible. This requires quick key-questioning and decision-making under pressure. The model below is split into two sections that follow the key question "Is this behaviour safe?" Teachers are required to respond either Yes, or No. Throughout the management of the issue, the teacher remains as part of the problem-solving process. This does not mean that they are solely responsible for dealing with the issue, but they will have the most influential role in the learning and restorative process as well as ensuring the follow up after the issue is resolved.
